GiftSage Privacy Policy

GiftSage (“we”, “us”) takes the privacy of you and your recipients seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Your Apple ID (via Sign in with Apple) at sign-up
• Recipient profile information you create (name, relation, birthday, interests, sizes, allergies, style notes)

A special note on recipient privacy: Recipient profiles contain personal data about people who have not signed up for this app. We apply a local-first approach: names, birthdays, interests, and other personal details are stored primarily on your device (SQLite cache). Only obfuscated metadata (hashed identifiers and counts — no raw PII) is synced to the cloud.

Automatically collected:

• Essential service call metadata (timestamp, error code, subscription status)
• We do not retain your AI recommendation inputs or AI-generated content on our servers

2. How We Use Information

Your information is used solely to:

• Deliver and improve the GiftSage service
• Process subscriptions and payments
• Send necessary service notifications (such as 14-day occasion reminders)
• Manage your account

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

3. AI Data Processing

GiftSage’s WishLoop AI recommendation feature is powered by third-party AI services. When you request a recommendation, we forward de-identified context data (a summary of recipient preferences, occasion type, and budget range) to the AI provider — we do not send the recipient’s real name or any directly identifying information. AI-generated recommendations are not retained on our servers.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored on secure cloud servers (Supabase) using industry-standard encrypted transport (TLS/SSL). Raw recipient personal information lives on your device and does not pass through our servers. We routinely review our security practices.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from App → Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account. Deletion cascades and permanently removes all recipient profiles, occasions, gift history, and cloud data within 5 seconds. This action is irreversible.

6. Push Notifications

If you authorize push notifications, we will send a soft reminder 14 days before an upcoming occasion. You can disable this at any time in your device notification settings.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — authentication and account metadata storage
• RevenueCat — subscription management
• AI service provider — WishLoop recommendation feature

We do not use any third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.

8. Children’s Privacy

GiftSage is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you within the app when we do; material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance. Your continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
